Cycling Training for Beginners

Salem Al-Mudhaf, 39, was completely new to cycling when we started working together. With an incredibly busy work life and a language barrier to work around, he needed cycling training for beginners that would help him build fitness, confidence and knowledge without making the sport feel overwhelming.

His goal was straightforward: prepare for a cycling holiday in Italy. But because Salem was starting from scratch, the coaching needed to cover much more than just workouts. We worked on the basics of training, how to pace his rides, how to fuel properly and how to gradually build the endurance needed to ride further with confidence.

Nutrition became a particularly important part of the process. Salem valued the specialised nutrition support, along with the patience, understanding and regular communication that helped him keep learning as he progressed. Having the ability to ask questions whenever he needed meant that small problems could be dealt with quickly rather than becoming barriers to training.

The progress was clear. Salem significantly improved his nutrition and moved very close to completing his first 100 km ride — a major milestone for someone who had only recently taken up cycling.

For Salem, cycling training for beginners was about building the foundations properly: improving fitness, understanding how to fuel, gaining confidence and making distances that once seemed daunting feel increasingly achievable.
